According to Oxford Languages, the definition of community is a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. For members of Centre County Council for Human Services, we are truly a community of organizations working to improve the lives of those living in Centre County.

For over half a century, the Centre County Council of Human Services has worked to create a network of like-minded individuals who see a need in our community and then work together to find a solution.

Would you like to be a part of our community? We are always looking to expand our reach and learn more about the resources available in our own backyard.

We offer our members a long list of unique benefits. We hold our monthly Membership Meetings the first Wednesday of each month at Calvary Church in Boalsburg. Most meetings provide our members with a forum to present about their organization, but we also host an annual picnic and our Lunch with the Legislators where we invite all of our local legislators to attend and answer questions from YOU.

Our Training & Education Committee works hard to provide several full and half-day training sessions for our members. Sometimes it’s too costly or work schedules don’t allow for staff to travel to attend conferences, so we try to bring quality programming to Centre County at little or no cost to organizations. We solicit topics through our member surveys and always include something focused on self-care. Sometimes, as part of this community we forget how important it is to take care of ourselves too!

Finally, one of our “Fan Favorite” events is our annual Rose Cologne Volunteer Appreciation event held each spring. Historically, member organizations nominate a deserving volunteer and we celebrate with a dinner event at the Penn Stater. The pandemic has required us to be creative honoring our volunteers with surprise visits last year and a picnic this year, but the sentiment remains. We know volunteers are the backbone of our organizations and we want to celebrate and honor everything they do for us.

Members of CCCHS have the luxury of many benefits and this is just to name a few. If you check our membership list online at https://www.theccchs.org/ you will see the “full” list, but in reality, the biggest benefit isn’t listed. CCCHS is so much more than our individual organizations or a list of member benefits. It’s really about becoming a part of our community. We encourage you to join us for a meeting and consider a membership!
