The annual open enrollment period for Medicare has started and runs from 10/15-12/7. During this time, any Medicare beneficiaries can make changes to their Medicare plans and these changes will take effect at the beginning of the new year. Many Medicare insurance companies make changes to their benefits annually, so it is a good idea to check your plan each year to ensure that you are adequately covered. Never hurts to take a look and make sure you are getting the maximum amount of benefits for the money you pay.
Anyone needing assistance with their Medicare questions can reach out to us at the Centre County Office of Aging through the PA MEDI program. The PA MEDI program provides unbiased, one-on-one insight to Medicare questions and can provide guidance in even the most complicated situations. Advice is free and appointments can be done either in person at our office or via phone. Our counselors are certified Medicare counselors. Our program is staffed with mostly volunteers who have completed trainings to become a certified counselor. Our counselors are well equipped to handle each unique situation. We also have outreach events at the local senior centers in Centre County where Medicare beneficiaries can get on-the-spot Medicare assistance during this open enrollment period. Feel free to check with your local center to see when we will be there.
The Centre County Office of Aging PA MEDI team takes Medicare counseling appointments year round as well, not just during the open enrollment period. You can call to make an appointment, or pop into the office if that is easier as well. Feel free to reach out to us anytime of the year with Medicare questions. We are located at the Willowbank Building in Bellefonte, 420 Holmes Street. Our office can be reached at 814-355-6716.
Medicare can be confusing and complicated for most people, so we encourage everyone who has Medicare to reach out to us to ensure they have a full understanding of their health insurance and options with Medicare
