View Newsletter Remembering CCCHS Member Anna Carol Buffington “The work an unknown good man has done is like a vein of water flowing hidden underground, secretly making the ground green.” – Thomas Carlyle CCCHS has been around since 1968 and, as with any successful long-term organization, there is a strong sense of history and a legacy from those who molded the organization through the years. I have been involved on the Board of Directors for several years now and when it’s time for decisions to be made or ideas to be considered, we try to reflect on the actions of past board members and how their lead has enabled our continued growth. One of those past board members was Anna Carol Buffington, a long-term member who left an indelible mark on so many parts of council. I never had t

he pleasure of meeting her before her death in January, but when we look to the past of CCCHS, we have certainly reaped the benefits of her work. Our historians tell us that Anna Carol was involved in almost every way with Council. During her tenure, she served as Treasurer, chaired the By-Laws Committee, and organized monthly meetings when they were held at Grace Lutheran Church, where she worked for many years as the Executive Director for State College Meals on Wheels. Even after her retirement she stayed involved with the Nominating Committee and other projects of Council. So although many of our current members may have never met Anna Carol Buffington, her dedication and work to Council has undoubtedly helpe

d shape us into the strong, community asset that we are today. It may be too late to thank Anna Carol in person for her contributions, but we are grateful to her and all those who have paved such a great path for us to follow. Thank you for your continued support. We’ll see you at our Membership Meeting on March 3, 2021 at 12 PM via Zoom! With Warmest Regards, Melissa Bottorf CCCHS President PA Link to ADRC
