Every April, priority is placed nationwide on the wonderful services and good works of nonprofit organizations. Our quality of life is enhanced significantly by these caring and giving organizations. Our nonprofits provide not only services and resources but also outlets for people to volunteer and give back, which in itself creates rewarding experiences and increases our community’s quality of life even further. And these terrific nonprofits cannot do all of this without everyone’s support including receiving our monetary donations, volunteer services, and donated goods.

Local residents are often unaware of all the many nonprofits serving Centre County. So, during April, in honor of National Volunteer Month, Volunteer Centre County will be spotlighting each of its Community Partners – local nonprofits that serve Centre County. This is a way to bring attention to these Community Partners and increase their recognition in the community. The more residents know about our local nonprofit community, the better we can work together to support them as they support others.

As a bonus, all positive “likes” clicked on each Community Partner’s spotlight post found on the Volunteer Centre County Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/volunteercentrecounty) during April will result in a donation to that Community Partner during Centre Gives! If you are unfamiliar with Centre Gives, it is the annual Centre Foundation's 36-hour online giving event that will begin on May 8 at 8 AM and conclude on May 9 at 8 PM. This event is designed to support the great work of local nonprofits serving Centre County by collecting monetary donations. Learn more at: https://centregives.org/

Let’s make April an awesome month by showing support for our local nonprofit community! A kind word, a pat on the back of someone you know who works there, serving via volunteering, donating a good in need, or simply clicking a “like” on a Facebook post can show your support and gratefulness for the generosity and good works that our local nonprofit community gives to all of us through the services and opportunities they provide. Happy National Volunteer Month!
